So I was recovering on the sofa with the TV on after my rather successful attempt to recreate the BBC Good Food lamb recipe on Sunday and I saw the trailer for the Avengers film for the first time.
This is a highly anticipated blockbuster for the summer and I am particularly keen to see it. I only saw the Captain America adaptation with Chris Evans a couple of weeks ago, so that suitably whet the appetite.
I have a penchant for comic book adaptations despite never being a massive comic book reader. I remember watching the Spiderman films of the early noughties, which many credit with bringing the genre to life again.
Now we have a deluge of films inspired by the pages of artwork and short prose. This one though is the first to bring together a collection of the modern adaptations and interestingly they have all faired differently alone.
I think what Robert Downey Jnr has done with Ironman is brilliant and I did enjoy Chris Evan’s Captain America but the modern Hulk and even Thor to a degree didn’t captivate.
That being said, I can’t wait for this blockbuster in what is set to be the year of blockbusters – Batman: The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit Part One, James Bond 23 – it’s going to be good!
